Need new sheets - white company quality without the price tag really

Have had some of their duvet covers for years and they are excellent quality but their prices have gone ridiculous.

I have tried dunelm mill hotel range and they look shit and are really thin.

Anyone have any other ideas or recommendations?

I've got my eye on these

Phantomquartz · 30/01/2012 21:08

They're not much cheaper though.

BikeRunSki · 30/01/2012 21:08

TK Maxx, totally hit and miss, but worth a rummage.

I got some bed linen from here. They are nice but they get wrinkled quite a bit, even though I iron them.

tnaks for all suggestions

I have White Company bedlinen and I am not too impressed with them because they get so creased and they are a nightmare to iron. However, I have been very impressed with the 100% cotton non-iron range from M&S which has a lovely sheen to it, feels nice and thick, it is pure cotton (no polyester thank you!) and you can get away with not ironing it (although I do give it a quick press, just because I am weird):

I have gone for the white bedlinen and jazzed it up with a brown faux fur throw and a couple of cushions from the white company. Looks great!

I'm not impressed with the White Company quality, having had several items that were cut badly so would not iron flat. It is definitely over-hyped and over-priced.
Some Laura Ashley is good quality and more reasonable if you buy in their sale. We have also been lucky with finding 400 thread count bed linen at a bargain price at TK Maxx.
Do you have any retail outlets near you, they often have good quality bedding at reasonable prices. We have some great bedding by Bedeck from their shop in our local designer outlet.

anniewoo · 31/01/2012 15:47

Have to agree The White Company duvet covers are a nightmare to iron.

ifyoumust · 31/01/2012 16:00

Ditto Marks and Spencers. Great quality and washes well.

Lovecat · 31/01/2012 16:08

Don't laugh, but I have found 300 thread count sheets in Wilkinsons - it's not their own brand, it's called Hotel something, but they are brilliant and feel lovely.

Otherwise I would second a rummage in TK Maxx.

mollymole · 31/01/2012 16:46

Another to 2nd keep looking in TK Maxx, and yes to Marks & Spencer - really washes well
I had the 'hotel' quality from Matalan and Dunelm and it's crap

LaurieFairyCake · 31/01/2012 16:48

www.qvcuk.com They have lots of Northern Nights bedlinen in really high thread counts. Read the reviews carefully as some of the best ones are difficult to iron according to reviews - I wouldn't know as I don't iron.

Best thing is you can use/wash to see if it suits and RETURN if it doesn't.

Ixia · 02/02/2012 21:22

Another vote for TKMaxx, most of my decent bedlinen comes from there. We need pure cotton as DH and DD have skin issues. One thing about the ironing comments, non-iron cotton stuff is often coated with chemicals to make it that way (formaldehyde amongst others), so not needing ironing, isn't a reflection of quality.....not that I iron anyway!

thekingfisher · 19/02/2012 17:03

Just thought I would update on this - having spoken to another friend was directed to the duvet and pillow warehouse ( can't do links am crap) and although a very limited range the quality is superb - easily as good as TWC if not better.....

Off to browse some more stuff......
