Hi,

Can anyone recommend an under counter fridge that is actually quiet.

We can hear ours in the bedroom approx 20 foot away and through a closed door.

Thanks.

How old is your fridge? Have you checked whether tubes at the back are vibrating against each other or the side of the fridge to make the noise? Or is it the general "hum" you refer to? If it is pipes vibrating, try wrapping in foam or similar. We did that with a previous fridge and the noise almost completely stopped.

I would have thought any new/modern fridge should/would be quiet. Yours sounds extreme - I am sitting about 6 feet from mine now and if everything is completely silent sometimes I can hear a (very) gentle hum. Very infrequently the compressor goes, but you would never hear it in the next room. It's a Maytag, but I don't think that is relevant. Any new fridge should be as quiet as you need it to be ie. you should not hear in a different room, 20 feet away, with the door shut!
