Is it possible to fix a scratch on oak veneer??

I recently bought a new table - nothing too fancy as I knew the DCs would do something to it. It is an oak veneer and there is a light scratch on the top already. Is there anyway of hiding it - other than sticking my coffee mug on top?!

You can get a kind of wax crayon for doing this www.toolsforworkingwood.com/indextool.mvc?prodid=LB-0250.XX these ones are on a US site, but a bit more searching should find you some in UK. You just sort of go over the scratch with one the same colour as the wood or just a bit darker (never lighter) and it improves it a lot.

Brilliant, thanks for that. I have found them on Amazon and they should be here in the next day or two.

How quick was that!

Sometimes rubbing with walnut "meat" will work too.

I've also found rubbing in a bit of oil (use almond oil) helps. Well it doesn't fix anything of course but does darken the scratch so less visible / blends in more. Helps me notice it less anyways, DH tells me I get too bothered about these things and it just adds character...
