Fridge freezer accidentally turned off - help!

DH accidentally turned off the fridgefreezer yesterday morning. Once we'd discovered it and turned it back on the freezer temp had risen to 7 degrees.

What can I keep and what needs to go? Obviously I'll throw out meat, but can I keep fruit and veg (got lots of stewed apple in there). What about ice-cream? I'm guessing
that needs to go too.

Any advice/experiences much appreciated!

Providing it was still cold, id cook all the meat and either eat it! or refreeze.

This has happened to me twice, once it was noticed in time and it all went in the bin as it was warm by then not even slightly cold, the second it was still cold so I cooked as much as possible.

As long as the food still had ice crystals in/on it it will be fine. Depending on how long the freezer had been off, I doubt much would have defrosted.

A freezer will stay frozen for 24 hours as long as the door isn't openend. And even after that most stuff will be fine. As Haagendazs says as long as there is still ice it will be fine

For the fridge contents use your own discretion - if it looks ok and smells ok, it is likely ok to be kept

Has the stuff remained frozen? If so, it will Ben fine - and in that short period of time it should have done

Thanks for all your replies.

It was switched off for about 12 hours. Everything felt very cold/still frozen, except some ice lollies which were mush.
