Is it at home or work? - Do you have access to a vacuum cleaner?

You can buy pretty good dry foam upholstery cleaners that you spray and rub in then vacuum off, but that only works if you can get to a vac!

If not I would use soap foam. Get an empty jam jar and put an inch of warm water in the bottom. Add a few drops of washing up liquid and shake untill you have a jar full of bubbles.

Scoop the bubbles out onto a damp flannel or rough weave cloth and rub well, should bring the 'grime' off.

Brilliant ideas. Thank you. I have a hoover at work so will try that tomorrow and if not your second suggestion before the weekend.
