Keeping stuff for the next baby - how much do you need for each age group?

First of all, I do appreciate that this is one of those "how long is a piece of a string?" question.

But have 2 dses and am just amassing so much stuff that is in a sort of limbo - too small for ds1 and too big for DS2.

Then I have stuff that needs to go into the even bigger limbo that is "for DC3" that is, when we get round to that (not going to be this year)
e.g.
all the newborn crap stuff
mat clothes
all the bedding for moses basket
muslins,
babygros x 100s (exaggeration but it feels like that)
snowsuits etc etc
blankets for prams

House isn't massive and don't have an attic and despite vac bagging stuff rapidly running out of room.

HELP Please....
(thanks for reading this far)

Well, I only have one so far but am planning to have more at some point. I've kept all the baby 'equipment' mosses basket, bouncer etc.

I've kept all of the new born clothes - no too many to be fair, we managed not to go OTT. I still have all of her clothes (DD is 17 mo now).

I'm only going to keep a few though once I've sorted them out. My friend has kept a nappy box of each size clothes and that is the size I'm going to aim for (will allow extra storage for bulky items like coats, gro bags etc).

I'm not inclined to keep things like vests which are cheap and easy to get again. Also I expect that even if my DC2 is another girl I and other people will buy outfits etc to suppliment the clothes I've saved, so I'm trying to save only the best of the clothes.

I seem to have some outfits that look that they have never been on, and some that look like they have been burried in mud and rubbed on a cheese grater!

As for toys, my friends and I have a sort of long term loan thing going on, and basically whoever has a child of the relevant age has the stuff! I'm currently in possession of ALL the toys as I'm the last one to have a baby, but there is one friend who is ttc, so I shall be unloading it all onto her very soon hopefully Grin.

The same rule applies with the maternity clothes. I don't know where they are at the minute but I dare say as soon as the next pregnancy is announced they will appear!

I'm not sure what to do with blankets etc. I do have the space at as our spare bedroom is only being used ofr storage, but after baby no.2 needs a bedroom, then I will have to really minimise my storage.
