Windows and conservatory a mess with years of lichen, grime and general filth. Is there a tried and tested product MN'ers could recommend please?

I always clean white UPVC window/door frames with Astonish Kitchen & cookware cleaner and it does the trick, but would be very interested to hear other MN'ers tricks...I always leave them far longer than I should as its not my favourite task.

Vim! Sprinkle on a damp microfibre cloth or a pan scrubber thingy for really horrid bits

Thanks for the answers, wondering if there are any more ideas.

I use car polish.

I got a bottle of stuff from the local double glazing shop. Very effective.

I have a product I bought from a local shop which sells electrical appliances and home stuff. It's called Thompsons Upvc Restorer. Cleans revives and whitens Upvc. Does the job very well and bottle goes a long way. Comes in a silver coloured bottle with blue top

It's made by Ronseal. Would you be able to get it in a hardware shop?

FlyingTeapot · 22/01/2012 18:03

Thanks again. I bought something in B&Q which isn't that fabulous, and since then have seen that lakeland do a product which has fab reviews. Wish I had waited to get that now!
