Which expresso coffee maker?

DH and I are thinking of treating ourselves to an expresso maker. I always thought I would get a Gaggia but have read they have been taken over by Philips and as a result the quality has decreased - do you know if this is true?

I have had a quick look online and De'Longhi look like a good brand but which model there seem to be so many! And do I want an automatic milk steamer or one I do myself? Si much to choose from, I need help!

Budget is up to £300

If you phone John Lewis they will talk you through which one is best for you, we got great advice off them and they didn't just try and flog the most expensive model!

Oh really that's good to know. I was thinking of going along to our nearest JL tomorrow to have a look although I don't think they stock Gaggia. Out of nosiness interest which machine did you go for and are you pleased?

We got a Delonghi in the end, we had a Gaggia before for many years but it broke and I think Gaggia now isn't the same as the old Gaggia - they sold the name or something.

I find it difficult to find one that will make a good mugful. They all seem sized to make two thimbles espressos.

Gaggia for me too. We use this one. And it fits your budget too. Don't forget to grab the £10 off voucher..
