so I have too fix the new one to the bottom of the cupboards, old one is bulky and the switch over to digital is going to kill it anyway)

has anyone done that?
what kind of brackets do I need to use?

I am thinking 15 in, perhaps 17 top

any suggestions?

don't you have to have a special one to do that?

maybe you could just not have a tv in the kitchen?

We couldn't find a tv that would fit under our units bigger than about 10".......so swiftly had a rethink and decided to put it on a pull out wall bracket instead......which meant a 19" could be used instead. Would that be an option?

we have one of those tiny dvd players that you can also install in the car. has a freeview receiver inbuilt. I think it's from Philips.

Why do you need a tv in the kitchen?

mousyMouse · 17/01/2012 15:55

because washing up is soooooo boooooooooooooooring

happyAvocado · 17/01/2012 22:17

I like my kitchen even though is tiny, if I am washing up or cooking for the next day I am happy to watch tv programs (I listen to radio on my commute to and from work - over one hour each way).
I have had tv in the kitchen for years now and that is where I mostly watch it :)

I guess I can dispose of it and see if I miss it....
But yesterday I watched most of {{http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01b4gpd Stargazing]] whilst getting stuff ready for today for myself and my kids - tv in the kitchen doesn't have to mean waste of time Smile

there's no room for a bracket on any of the walls - as there's a doorway and a massive window taking up lots of wall space- the whole kitchen is perhaps 7x8ft, units all built in + washing machine, dishwasher& a sitting space for 2

I wanted an under-unit radio for the kitchen, and John Lewis told me to get a TV and just tune it to radio. I think they are neat. Will watch this thread with interest - thanks, OP. Smile Have not bought mine yet.

happyAvocado · 17/01/2012 22:56

I agree - tv&radio in one would be perfect :)

on freeview you can receive radio as well.

happyAvocado · 18/01/2012 13:32
