My wooden drainer

I have a Belfast sink which has a flat, slatted wooden drainer on it. I have two questions:

  1. can I bleach it? It lays flat most of the time and accumulates black mould where the horizontal supports go under the slats
  2. where can I get a new one? This one was here when we moved in so I don't know where it came from but couldn't find anything similar when I looked online, including eBay which is where I find most things. Tia

You shouldn't bleach wood really - but you can. Since you can't really spoil it any more than the mould I would give it a good scrub with bleach as a one off, dry it well and then oil it to bring back some colour and life to it.

No idea where you would get a new one, but if I was looking I'd try reclamation yards - the one near us sells reclaimed items and also new reproduction items. If they don't sell them they may be able to point you in the right direction Smile
