Iron and ironing board recommendations please

My ironing board is 40 years old, my iron is 20 years old.

I deserve better.

Please can you recommend a good, easy to fold and store, ironing board, and a really good steam iron?

TIA

Yes I can!
I loathe ironing so instead of sending it out and paying I bought a really decent barbantia wide board from amazon £79. The place to store your iron when hot and changing to the next garment is a smart fabric so won't burn.its v wide and long and collapses down but is a height to store.
I bought a Bosch steam iron but my old Phillips on was much better - it was 10 years old and kept tripping the house, even with new plug and flex!

Thank you. I will have a look.

I also have the Brabantia extra-wide ironing board, now 13 years old and absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I have just got this iron. It is wonderful, has halved my ironing time and it seems to be on special offer everywhere at the moment as it usually retails around £130

Giving this a bump. Just in case someone can recommend a board that isn't £80...

Sorry, I came on to recommend the Brabantia board and a steam generator iron. I love my ironing board so much, we brought it with us when we moved to the USA. It is great!

Is everyone's ironing board that expensive? I thought most people's were £7 - £15?! It's a bit of a Shock to discover how much a good one costs.

Ironing is unethical. Don't do it.

SundaeGirl · 04/04/2012 14:11

I agree. Wholeheartedly. But it's either be unethical and look OK in old clothes or just look downright skanky.

Go into Currys or comet and pick them up. I prefer a lighter iron.
