After every meal? In the morning? On a Friday?

Dish-washer free answers only please.

After every meal

Pascha · 10/01/2012 12:52

When they're dirty.

flatbread · 10/01/2012 12:53

I don't put pots and pans in the dishwasher anyway. Dead easy to wash up after cooking. Usually just a short rinse, a quick swipe with the scrubber, a hot wash and done!

muddywindydales · 10/01/2012 12:57

I wash them after each meal and any cups etc. before i go to bed.

I don't like coming down to dirty cups in the morning. Grin

( I don't use a dishwasher!)

TimeWasting · 10/01/2012 13:15

Are only the 'good' girls answering?

Whenever they're dirty. I can't sleep with dirty dishes in the kitchen...they call out to me!

laurenamium · 10/01/2012 13:38

After every meal, unless meal was a sandwich so there's 1 plate and 1 knife...then it waits til tea. Am I a slattern then?Grin

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 10/01/2012 13:41

Generally after every meal, but now and again if there is somehing good on the telly in the evening I will sod it and do them in the morning.

AMumInScotland · 10/01/2012 13:52

Mostly in the morning. But sometimes while things are still cooking, if its something like a lasagne where the pans aren't in use by the end IYSWIM?

I do have a dishwasher, but it usually seems silly to run it for about 2 pans!

BlackCatLookingForwardToSpring · 10/01/2012 14:01

By your last post TimeWasting I am guessing you are a bit like me and usually have lots of washing up on the sides. I used to let it all pile up and then do it before dinner time but I am trying to change and now doing 15 minutes here and there when I feel like it! Wink

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/01/2012 14:04

After every meal. I haven't got a dishwasher as I quite like washing dishes loser.

I couldn't leave dirty dishes until the morning, I used to in my younger slob days, but never would now.

TimeWasting · 10/01/2012 14:50

I know I should after each meal, but that's always seemed innefficient somehow.

OneHandWrapping · 10/01/2012 14:51

When I need them again Blush

snice · 10/01/2012 14:57

breakfast things get done when I go into the kitchen to make the evening meal. Dinner stuff is done immediately after the meal-I can't relax knowing its all in there

BoysInTheHood · 10/01/2012 15:00

During the week when it's just me and the youngest DC at home, I'll wash the breakfast and lunch pots together in my half an hour clean up blitz before the school run. DH washes dinner pots early evening.

[slattern]

loopydoo · 10/01/2012 15:04

If they don't fit in the dishwasher, after the meal or before bedtime (can't sleep properly otherwise). On the odd occasion that I leave the pots until the next morning, I get up and the whole day seems a nightmare and I find it hard to get going. If I come down and the worktops are clear and clean, I feel soooo much better.

LoveInAColdClimate · 10/01/2012 15:07

After every meal.

boredandrestless · 10/01/2012 15:08

When the washing up bowl (which I keep in the cupboard uner the sink) is full.

Usually only once a day as there is only me and DS.

TimeWasting · 10/01/2012 15:11

What do you do, if someone dirties a plate or mug in the evening?

OP posts:
DonkeyTeapot · 10/01/2012 15:11

When I feel like it! Or when DD has a nap, but she only naps for half an hour at a time at the moment. As a pp said, sometimes I wash up as I go, especially if I'm baking or making something that has to go in the oven for a bit. Then there's only the dish and a couple of plates and cutlery, they might get done the same night, or the next morning.

My first job of the day is normally to wash whatever pots there are, sometimes it's a lot, sometimes hardly any. My PET HATE is having to wash something because I need to use it, and I can't make a start cooking dinner if there are pots needing washing up.

Y'see, I try to be a good girl, but it's just not in my nature :(

bebemad · 10/01/2012 15:19

There are only two of us so we dont have to many dishes
breakfast 2 cups/2 bowls/2 spoons
lunch 2 cups/ 2 glasses/ 2 plates knives etc

I normally do these all together before I start making dinner then when I have finished cooking dinner place all the pots in the leftover water to soak while we are eating then use fresh water to wash all the dinner dishes. We try to do what we can to save water :)

nickelhasababy · 10/01/2012 15:21

When?
the only time I wash the pots is if DH is doing something very important and I'm being nice as a treat.
Grin

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/01/2012 15:49

Nickel - you are exempted from dishwashing for at least another 6 months.

I hope and your baby are doing well Smile

Flubba · 10/01/2012 15:52

Never.

DH does it every evening before coming to bed.
:)

TimeWasting · 10/01/2012 16:11

I wish I was exempt from washing the pots. Sad
