iPad speaker dock/stand, mini rant

My DH gave me this equipment for Xmas, the brand is Altec. It charges the iPad and has a speaker at the bottom, delivers a good sound. So far so good. It turns, so that you can use the iPad either way. On first opening the support strut broke. Now the bit that joins the holder is bust. And it's hard to guide the iPad to dock. I think he bought it from amazon. Anyone else got this. Can I send it back and get a refund. ( it's quite heavy). Fed up. Help.

I would ask him where he bought it from. If it is Amazon then you need to contact them about the faults. They may replace it instead of refunding it though.

Amazon are quite good with refunds, you get a choice of refund or replacement, and they will provide a pre paid label for postage, or refund your postage costs if you want to use a carrier other than the one they offer.

I have returned a few things now, usually I take it to the post office, and one was collected by Yodel! (Have to admit I worried about that one but it was fine!)

My dh bought me one for Christmas too, but mine is fine so far. That doesn't help you I know! Hope Amazon get it sorted.

Is yours the same brand schilke. If so that's good to know, I was reluctant to get a replacement only to find that one crap as well.

It's Altec. swivels round so can have it in portrait or landscape. It has been great so far!

Oh poo. Mine no longer works. It worked fine last night, but just put iPad on it and no longer charges. Tested it with ds1's iPod - no charge. Speakers still work, but I want it to work properly. Back to Argos it goes.

Minimammoth - did you get yours replaced? I have read dodgy reviews about charging connection breaking, so I might get a refund and try a different dock. Shame because I really like it.

I was given a Philips Fidelio DS3500 iPad dock for Christmas, I've found it very good although it can only be used with the iPad in portrait.
