Rusty bathroom towel rail

We have a large heated chrome towel rail in our bathroom. The top and bottonm sections are fine, but the middle section is getting quite rusty as this gets all the excess water as that's where we keep the hand towels. Any ideas for cleaning it please? Thanks

nylon pan scourer.

if the surface has gone rusty then it will rust again.

you can also use "Jenolite" which is an acid rust remove sold in motorists' shops. You need rubber gloves, and warm water and a sponge nearby to wash away any splashes before they eat through skin, clothes and eyeballs. Jenolite is the only common rust remover I know that does not leave a grey or black coating intended for painting over.

Next time, at greater expense, get a chrome-on-brass one, instead of chromed steel.

Thanks for your reply. Pan scourer sounds the safer option! Bathroom is nearly 11 years old so will ne a refit at some point and we will look at other towel rail options, so I will try and keep this thread!
