Lampshades

I have lots of nice table lamps but for some reason they all have useless shades that don't fit or look right. I want to keep them and get new shades but where from? Been looking online but it's not always clear which shades are for lamps and which for pendant overhead lights. I've no idea where to look, except not IKEA as their shades never seem to fit my bases.

Also, need inspiration for some really pretty shades for bedside lamps, study and boys' bedrooms. I never get lighting right. All ideas welcome. Thanks.

If your lamps are not too big I would take them along to a lighting department of a big department store (maybe two at a time) and get the assistant to help you. Then your lamp bases can "try on" some shades. That's what I do.
