ikea ektorp sofa

I'm going to get my DM a new sofa in the New Year, as she's very keen on the comfort of ikea ektorps. We're trying to decide between a cloth covered or leather covered ektorp: she likes that she can get additional loose covers, but this is advertised for the cloth covered but not sure if it is possible to get loose covers (perhaps custom made) for the leather covered sofa if she wants to order additional covers and change the look. Any thoughts/experiences?
I've seen various companies online offering different covers for ektorps and love the idea of being able to switch and change (DM is keen on the chenille ones some companies offer for winter but also likes the ease of cleaning the leather ektorps).

i don't know about the leather ones but can vouch for my ektorp which we picked up second hand 9 years ago. still going strong(ish). the back cushions are saggy now, but good comfy sofa imo.

Have had Ektorp sofas for nearly 9 years now and we're big fans.

Have only had fabric covers but love the fact that I can take off covers and wash them, they are really comy and are standing up well to the rigours of 3 DS and an energetic (and rather large) dog. Xmas Smile

Thanks, comfy is the main thing! I did some more research and I don't think that the leather sofas can be re-covered, so will probably go with loose covers. I wonder what kind of sales ikea will have ...

We ve had two leather ones for 8 years and they are great. They have coped well with our 3 boisterous kids. AFAIK you cant put loose covers on the leather ones as seat cushions are fixed

I have one. It's right comfy. Also the covers are properly machine washable (they wash and fit back on). And you can change the covers for about £100.

DS has bounced on this for 3 years and it's still in great order.

I'm going to be visiting Ikea in the coming days, shall be doing lots of sitting and testing them out. I think DM wants the white one to start with. I have a feeling that different covers will form the basis of future birthday and Christmas presents ...

We've got the leather ektorp sofas and they are very comfy and easy to keep clean. They seem fairly sturdy and able to cope with family life.

The only thing is, I find the back cushion on the one that is used most has sort of lost it's shape. It's probably not very obvious to others but I notice it when I look at it. Think it may be down to the position we sit on it every day.

I do like them though.
