Making your own roman blinds for a novice sewer

I've been looking at "how to guides" on the internet and it all seems fairly straightforward. However, i havn't sewn anything since my highschool days (about 10 years ago) and i wasnt brillaint at it then. So my question is am i embarking on something a bit advanced given my abilities (or lack there of) or are they really quite simple. Also any hints or tips about measuring and sewing would be greatly received.

The sewing is quite straight forward. The tricky bit is to make sure you fully understand how to measure. So think about and understand how you measure for,

how you would like your blind to fall at the bottom (last panel folded over or bottom seam on show with maybe a trimming),
how you would like to fit the blind in the window, in or outside the frame

how much allowance you will need for the pocket strips for the size of batten you will be using

Once you get this right, you are working in straight lines Wink
