Getting rid of harlequin ladybirds

Hope someone may have advice on this subject! We recently moved in to an old farmhouse which first of all had a cluster fly problem (now resolved) and now has a harlequin ladybird problem. I cleared about 100 of them out of the snug on our second day here and they have made it smell kind of earthy and leafy (apparently a sure sign of infestation). I wouldn't mind as much if it were our native ladybirds but these are large and can apparently bite which is no good with a 3 year old.

So..any ideas on how to repel them? Kill them? Get rid of the leafy smell?

Thanks

We had them in our window frame. I used dettol mould & mildew remover which got rid of the smell, and they didnt come back the following year, which they can do if they can still smell the pheromones.
