Has anyone else experienced their tumble dryer working ie heating and tumbling ok but making a terrible noise - really loud grinding and whining! Earliest repair is a week away - but its' going to conk out terminally before then isn't it? Any advice???

Our's did that, earlier this year. Dp took it apart and found that where the drum sits into the back of the tumble dryer , it had worn and slipped and was cutting through the back of the dryer , and slipping.

He managed to find a kit online to repair it, and although we had fun struggling to put the belt back on, it was up and working again in no time.

Best not to use it very much until then I'm afraid Sad

Yeah mine did that, dp took it apart and it was something grinding away, think it was a bearing, it was a wee bit of metal shaped like a snowman, I ordered a new bt online, dp fixed it and all was fine!

ok thanks - dh is definitely not the type to start dismantling machinery - so think I'll try and save what is left of its life for dire emergency drying. Meanwhile mild windy weaher is what I'll be hoping for - not the blizzards we had this morning.

Mine did that last week, but shortly thereafter stopped tumbling as well - it was making the noise and getting hot but not moving, at which point I had to stop using it completely.
