storage for large toys in living room

I am trying to have a sort out of the toys in our living room before Christmas. Most of them are quite large eg. fisher price garage, house, lots of brio in a bag. They are also surrounded by lots fiddly bits of toys, gah! I hate looking at them, but the dc's do play with them. I have managed to prise away a total of 3 toys from them for the charity shop.Xmas Hmm

Can anyone suggest a way I can hide these toys as I am sick of looking at them all time? We have limited storage/space, so I am hoping some clever mn's can give us some suggestions.

Some kind of blanket box with a hinged lid that can double up as seating?

But I'm firmly in the 'toys belong in kid's room ' camp so I'm probably not the one to ask!

we have the ikea traby storage which works well. i have baskets in most of it, but some are empty so we can just chuck bigger toys in, and I have some smaller plastic shoe boxes to store stuff in which stack in the holes nicely

i also keep quite a few of the bigger uglier toys in the kids rooms

I wish I could fit them in their rooms. We have the trofast system from ikea which is housing lots of their toys. However, there is not room for everything, especially the larger items.

I dedicated a sideboard for toys and a big basket of lego. They have that, anything that doesnt fit goes in their rooms.

Ours go up on top of our (now) Expedit system (had Billys before). Have also just bought a Pax wardrobe which I'm hoping will house the rest of it. We shall see though!

Agree with cybbo, any toys we have in the living room belong in the blanket box. We got ours from the dump recycle centre and is a really cool white Lloyd Loom style one with legs, I chose some fabric for the top and used my upholstery gun to fix it in place. If I didn't have that then I think it'd have to be the Ikea stuff with boxes.
