Is there any hope for the Dyson? Have switched it off (it's still working!). Any clues?

OOh my Dyson did this, and then started smoking Grin

It died. I don't know why, sorry I'm not very helpful am I?

Have you just changed the fan belt? Dyson can service it for you, it's £70 (I think) but they will replace anything which needs changing. Have you checked to make sure nothing is caught underneith?

GrimmaTheNome · 12/12/2011 13:44

Unplug and look underneath - there's probably something caught round the roller thingy.

BloooCowWonders · 12/12/2011 13:46

Have cut all the hair away from the rollers (dd and I have v long hair!).

Don't know anything about fan belts...

Will I be electrocuted if I turn it on again?!

My Dyson did this, it was the motor dying. As it was under warranty still, Dyson fixed it for free!

No, you won't be electrocuted - if you can't see any other blockage and the roller can be rotated manually, the worst that will happen is that something will still burn out. But hopefully that's all it was. Have to say my dysons have been remarkably tolerant of my and DDs long tresses - its been things like accidentally sucking up the corner of an ecloth which choked mine, but even that caused no damage to the dyson, just a little burnt hole in the cloth!
