Toilet brushes!

Hi

My housekeeper has just requested a toilet brush. My initial response (kept safely in my own head ) was EWWW, seriously?! Germ laden awful things. But, as she's the one cleaning them i feel that I can't refuse!

Should I just get her one and hide my disgust?!

MIne gets dunked in bleach after every use- Or sprayed in Napisan. My toilet bowl is a funny shape and I honestly couldn't live without it. I do only buy cheap ones and change them regularly !

BloooCowWonders · 12/12/2011 13:45

HOw else do you expect to clean the loo?! If you don't like the idea (and I'm with Rosa and buy cheap - £1.50 and bleach and bin regularly) then what about those disposable ones?

gregssausageroll · 12/12/2011 13:48

We have one and I change it just about every 4 weeks with another cheapy!

DH has IBS so I could not live without. That and toilet cleaner.

Ikea does them for 99p

starfishmummy · 12/12/2011 15:43

I stock up at ikea too!

starfishmummy · 12/12/2011 15:44

Oh and Ikea do ones with black bristles so if "someone" (usually male!!) doesn't rinse it properly it doesn't look so bad!!

PastGrace · 12/12/2011 15:51

starfish unless they inexplicably manage to both rinse it, and get bits of loo roll stuck to the bristles

HOW does one even do that? There shouldn't be loo roll in the loo when you put the brush in. I think he flushes, scrubs, rinses, puts a piece of loo roll in loo, pokes at it a bit and then puts the brush back. Unless he's using a piece of loo roll so he doesn't have to touch the flush...

whats the alternative that I dont know about??

Bog brush sits in pool of bleach and nice smell cleaner.

Once week its taken out, steeped in bleach and boiling water for an hour, then replaced in new pool of the above. container of bleach, etc. cleaned and boiled also.

Repeat as necessary.

While you do this, think about how often people clean their hands after using the toilet. A bar of soap will reveal the horrid truth. Bone dry, I'll bet.

The bog brush is the least of your worries.

Think light switch. Think door handle.

FrozenChocolate · 17/12/2011 14:28

What about using a Duck Fresh Brush? The handle clips onto a new sponge bit, clean the loo then flush the dirty sponge thing away, leaving the handle to be reused. Job done!

mousysantamouse · 17/12/2011 15:10
