Boring but my washing machine stinks

I put my washing machine on a 90 degree wash on Friday with soda crystals to give it a clean and ever since it has stunk to high heaven. It's a sort of musty smell that I can;t get rid of. any suggestions?

Not sure what kind of machine you have but if you have a look at the bottom there should be a circular bit ( put some towels down first!) you unscrew it and kind of pull it out, it's like a long basket thing. You probably need to empty all the crap out of it and put it back, then do another wash with vinegar or whatever it is they recommend HTH

Did I mention a whole load of water might whoosh out when you do it? (evil grin)

it's the pump filter. Bosch ones often have a small rubbery pipe by it to get out the residual retained water before you unscrew the filter cap.

Quite likely the smell you're getting is the old sludge of powder and fabsoft in the tub that has started to be dissolved by the very hot wash.

Give it another one on HOT HOT HOT with no powder in it, and some old white towels if you have them. If it still froths up that will be the old soap sludge still coming away. Do it again until it no longer froths.

scrub out the grooves in the rubbery door seal where sludge and rotting socks can lurk.
