Wooden floor like an ice rink

Foolishly cleaned wooden floor with wood cleaning wipes - does look nice and clean but now floor is really slippery and it's impossible to walk on in socks without skidding around. What can I do?

Oh God, what on earth possessed you? :) I would mop with a damp cloth and some proper wood cleaner.

D'oh! I don't know, I bought them and hadn't considered that they're not for the floor. What do you mean by "proper wood cleaner" before I go and buy something equally stupid?

Like Pledge Wood Floor cleaner nothing fancy. BUt use as little water as you can, really wring the mop/cloth out so floor doesn't get drenched as it will be bad for the wood.

Thank you. Think maybe I should venture over into good housekeeping more often - I really haven't got a clue!

I've done that also.
Made everyone wear shoes with grips indoors for short term. Next day I washed some off soapy water, then dried it immediately.
I remember, it was lethal and I felt like a donut for doing it.

I even did mine actual wood polish. Remember telling dh. he walked in saying 'oh yeah, the grain looks beautifuuuuuuuul' as he fell on his arse.

Glad I'm not the only numpty round here!

Just read the flylady stuff and thought I'd have a go at that - filled my kitchen sink up with hot water and bleach to soak for an hour before I read the bit about not putting your hand in to take out the plug afterwards. Do I possess a pair of rubber gloves? Xmas Blush
