Do chests of drawers look odd in living rooms? Will people think it has escaped from the bedroom?

Not usually a living room type thing but then I think it depends on the style as they may slot in nicely

I think that it depends entirely on the style of the chest of drawers. I have chest of drawers that is currently pretending to be a dressing table in my bedroom that really ought to be in my sitting room!

If it's long and low and sideboard-y then no, but if it's a tall chest, then I think it would look a bit odd.

It all depends on the style - a dresser-type chest of drawers can look lovely, but traditionally drawers in a living room are no higher than a couple high. Its all down to your style though - there are no rules! :-)
