Hi we bought a new bed 3 months ago and as its oak is fairly robust and is a super king size, anyway, changing covers yesterday and headboard has huge split 6 inches from top and is hanging by a thread!!! Truly it has not seen that much action(sadly) as dh works overseas for a month at a time and apparently on website says not covered for anything after a month!!!
Am hoping some lovely MN's know a little bit about consumer laws to help me out on my telephone conversation tomorrow........PLEASE?

I clicked on this thinking there'd be some tale of gobsmacking romps.

You are covered by the usual conditions of the consumer protection laws of the UK, interweb or no. You can't sign them away.

is it close to a radiator? and cracked along the grain? Dry heat can make solid wood split, especially when it is new and has not had time to dry out slowly.

that s a good point, room is dry. I am ashamed to admit when I phoned the supplier as website said we only had a month coverage, I went off my trolley, called them thieving gypsy bastards and worse and poor salesman told me to call in morning to speak to customer service. By which time I found receipt and much to my horror discovered I'd called wrong company!!!!!!! God I am a fuckwit at times, mortified. Well upshot is they exchanged it, no hassle. thanks anyway!
And sorry there was no bonker buster story......

an item should be fit for purpose and expected to last a reasonable amount of time. would say 3 month is not a reasonable amount for a bed to break in any domestic setting.

:o at your 'wrong company' story.
