... and now I'm getting a bit nervous about the washing it off part. The box is quite alarming with all the safety blurb - I'm going to lose an eye or burn off my arm or something, aren't I?

I put on an old sweatshirt, full rubber gloves and then the weeny gloves they give you over the top.

I also did put on safety goggles, but I am a twonk who would rub her eyes. I was fine though.

You might want sunglasses for the result though! Grin

I only put it on half an hour ago and the racks are already looking amazing.... It's dripping out of the oven onto the floor though! EEEK! Why didn't I put newspaper down?

I love oven pride. especially when my mum comes over and attacks my oven for me It's amazing.

CeliaFate · 25/11/2011 09:42

What bits of my "self-cleaning" (ha ha Hmm) oven can I oven pride?

valiumredhead · 25/11/2011 10:05

Self cleaning ovens are shite - it's only the side bits that self clean ime!

wandawings · 25/11/2011 10:25

I did get a nasty rash on my arms from this stuff. My own fault, should have used longer gloves and been more careful.

CeliaFate · 25/11/2011 10:29

I agree, valium. Can I oven pride the floor of the oven then? It's beyond hideous.

valiumredhead · 25/11/2011 10:46

Well I am planning to celia, perhaps we could synchronise cleaning times and wait with baited breath to see if it has worked fucked up our ovens completely!

OK I'm back, still sporting a full complement of arms and eyes. Followed Fuzzled's advice and wrapped up from head to toe, but actually it was easier than I thought it would be. Verdict - shelves look fab, oven floor not so good, but I should have left it on far longer. Had to come off though as I am out this evening and DD 15 and DS 21 would have put a bloody pizza in without realising or summat...

I just put the shelves in a hot dishwasher cycle every month or so and all the black bits wipe off!
I also pay the kids (aged 7&10) 40p a time to clean the inside and door of the oven (but they don't yet know the value of money). They do quite a good job with washing up liquid Grin
