Please advise on how to get rid of stench. We covered it in bicarb for over a day, then hoovered. It has helped but it is still a bit stinky...

Keep going with the bicatb and a bit of febreeze, we were alos given the handy hint a few years ago of using shampoo, the smell wne but left with a small stain.

Ooh thank you, we will persevere. He was in his own room when he threw up so the poor devil's cot has been moved to spare room. We're all at sixes and sevens. Will keep bicarbing.

DS spilled half a bottle of milk in the car this summer and we didn't drive again until 4-days later when we were greeted by the rankest, cheesiest, bleurgh...

It's taken several cleaning sessions but I think we're now there. The last couple of times we piled on loads of biological washing liquid, topped with bicarbonate of soda, gave it a good scrubbing, then left overnight.

Good luck!

try a 50:50 mix of white vinegar and water, wet the area then blot with a towel (i.e. put a folded towel over the puddle and jump up and down on it!).

i have a carpet cleaner now so use the vinegar mix in that but this method works just as well. i find vinegar better than bicarb for getting rid of smells in carpets. the vinegar smell goes as soon as the carpet dries.

Last time I had to deal with this I scrubbed with baby wipes and then sprinkled some tea tree oil on the carpet.

neutradol carpet powder is good too - sprinkle on, leave for a while and hoover off
