Marking my spot cos I have it too

mandoo · 23/11/2011 19:38

If it's on the rubber seal round the door then I don't think you can. I had a washing machine with this problem and I tried everything.

No it's in the drawer and when you take the drawer out its in that space too :)

cillit bang grime and lime.

take the drawer out, scrub it with hot water and a nylon brush. Spray inside the drawer-slot and scrub that too. Using a kitchen spray with bleach, the bleach will kill the black mildew, and, once dead, it will clean off more easily. I expect cillit will work too, as mandoo says.

the mould will be living on slimy remains of soap powder and fab soft. If you use a powder, liquid or tabs that can go in the drum instead of in the drawer, that will help. Scrub out the drawer slot often enough to keep it clean, especially the "ceiling" of the slot where the water holes are (you don't want them to get blocked).

Cold-water fills and cold-water washes are not very good at dissolving soaps, so slime and mould are quite common now. An occasional very hot wash with white common towels will combat slime build-up in the tub.

common = cotton Blush towels

Spot on, PigletJohn! OP, don't worry; it is quite common, and as long as you scrub out your drawer (following PigletJohn's advice) every now and again, you should keep it at bay.

You need some of this stuff -

You can get it from tesco or big supermarkets.

It sorted mine out.
