Cleaning the car interior

How do you get the inside of your car clean? I've got a hand held hoover which is great, but there are so many nooks and crannies it can't get into.

Any tips on how to do a good diy job?

I use the vacuum cleaner at the petrol station!

hand -helds are not always very powerful

I use the crevice tool on the hose. It helps to push the seats all the way forward to do round them from the back, then all the way back to do from the front. Take out all mats first, and shake or hose them clean.

A damp sponge with a bit of WUL will often pick up dust and sticky stuff. The runners for the seats may have been greased, which makes fluff stick.

Dirty and oily areas like round where the doors go, inside, and their hinges, you can use a long paint-brush with a strong solution of car shampoo, stir it up well and rinse off when finished. When dry you can put a bit of WD40 on the hinges and stays to prevent squeaks. It is easier if you spray it into a clean jam-jar and use a small paintbrush to apply it.
