White shirt trauma

DH has a very nice white shirt (Thomas Pink - woo get him) which he has somehow disfigured.

There is a bright yellow stain along the inside of the collar and in a triangle either side of the collar on the shirt front. He claims total ignorance of the stain and where it could have come from.

I have tried washing it normally, washing it with added stain vanish type stuff, washing it on 65, washing it on 65 with added vanish stuff, putting it in to soak with vanish type stuff, putting it in a weak bleach solution (cold water), soaking in stronger bleach solution (hot water), leaving to dry in hot sunshine (am in Australia), doing ritual washing dance near it etc etc.

The stain is more obvious when the shirt is wet.

Any other ideas or has he bolloxed up his 90 quid shirt?

Do it on a 95 wash - nothing to lose now.

Sounds biological sweat type stain to me - you could try making a paste of Napisan, rubbing it in gently and leaving it for a few hours, then rinsing and then putting white vinegar on it and washing in biological powder. I have rescued crusty yellow white t shirts like this in the past

yellow stain on collar is in my experience from skin oil. It appears more often on shirts that have been put away for a while, even though they appear clean. So it happens most with "best" shirts. The traces of oil oxidise in time. Bleach won't help.

I find a laundry stain-removing spray, and a good hot wash in Persil, usually gets it off.

It really is true that persil gets white shirts whitest.
