Are Miele vacuums robust? Or will my cleaner break it?

Despite various repairs my Morphy Richards vacuum is on it's last legs

Miele seem to be widely recommended but are they robust? Should I get something else instead?

Ours has been v robust, and we are killers of vacuums

Ponders · 21/11/2011 20:19

same here Smile

cleas · 21/11/2011 20:21

I can second that.
Hoovers come to our house to die.
The miele is still going strong

Grockle · 21/11/2011 20:26

And another. But don't hoover up fish food because it'll make the hoover smell forever more Grin

FriedSprout · 21/11/2011 20:28

Yep, very robust. Mine has been through several house renovations and still going strong

Love mine, it's a bright yellow pull-along one. Been going strong a good 7 years.

coffeeinbed · 21/11/2011 20:47

I have the sheddiest dog ever.
On my second Miele for 16 years - first still works BTW, despite being loaned to DC in student accommodation.
They are very very robust.

winterreise · 21/11/2011 21:06

Dyson are overpriced and full of design faults. Miele are 100% better in every way.

RainboweBrite · 21/11/2011 21:10

Mine's still going strong, with only 1 very minor repair (so minor that the man in the shop didn't even charge for it :), and I bought it in 2004. Robust enough for you?

mumblechum1 · 21/11/2011 21:11

I've had 12 problem-free years with mine.

I got so pissed off with my Dyson I had a Basil Fawlty moment with it and ran it over with my car Blush

whooosh · 21/11/2011 22:49

My Sebo has not given me a single problem in 12yrs.i luuurve it.........Dysons are the work of the devil and you couldn't pay me to have another in my house......Go Sebo!

allagory · 21/11/2011 22:56

I have the same one as NotJustClassic and the same thing happened. Not quite sure what happened but it is broken and Miele were very sniffy about mending it. (80 quid if there was any forced involved..as it was my cleaner, I have no idea what happened). So it remains broken. The bags are mega expensive and difficult to get.
I won't be buying one again.

cleas · 21/11/2011 23:00

Just to add. I get the bags on eBay.
Work just as well and much cheaper.

Oh Mumble,I wish I had thought of that one.I would pay money to run over a Dyson!

NotnOtter · 21/11/2011 23:42

miele broken with a year by 14 year old he breaks most things just by looking at them so not really a good benchmark tbh

echt · 22/11/2011 07:32

Thumbs up for Miele. Had fab service from the Softronic washing machine. Now have the Autocare upright model vacuum cleaner. It sucks like an OFSTED inspector. Second the ebay buying of bags.

EldonAve · 22/11/2011 13:44

Thanks, looks like I'm buying on then

valiumredhead · 22/11/2011 20:40

Very robust - we've had one for 10 years.

BeeBread · 22/11/2011 20:42

I've had two, both of which have given up the ghost at 3-4 years.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong!

TheCountessRoyalofBlood · 22/11/2011 20:42

I love mine, but then I did have a shite dyson before!
