hows to clean the bathroom grouting?

I give the grouting a wipe when I do the bathroom, I occasionally scrub with an old toothbrush too, but the grouting isn't clean :(

Do I need a steam cleaner? or just another noxious chemical spray?!

tia :)

Bleach (thick, neat) and a toothbrush and ventilate really well and wear a mask. Scrub it on with the brush about 10 or 20 seconds worth per line of grout and move on to the next bit, after a minute or so it whitens - I then use a microfibre wide floor cleaner thingy to rinse it all off

Yep I use bleach and a toothbrush too

I tried this stuff on my mum's recommendation on the grotty black mould on my bathroom shower cabinet and it's truly truly fabulous! makes the bathroom smell like a swimming pool, mind you, but did not require any scrubbing to remove the mould.

OK, there's one spot where the mould was really bad where the sewalnt is a very pale grey rather than white, but it's still a damn sight better than it was.

Poledra · 21/11/2011 14:45

"sewalnt" = sealant, but y'all knew that, right?

Ponders · 21/11/2011 14:47

it works on sealant???

I must get some! I have the Dettol one (also smells of swimming pool Grin) which is fine for grout but makes no impression on sealant at all.

Rikalaily · 21/11/2011 14:48

I use neat bleach on a toothbrush too, comes up gleaming white :)

Poledra · 21/11/2011 14:51

It does, Ponders, it does - trust me, it had a difficult job on the far corner of my shower but worked wonders.

Grot Buster is good for the rubbery sealant.

Bleach and a toothbrush for grout.

For some reason Grot Buster doesn't seem to do grout. I think it's so thick it sort of slides off the surface.

Whitening toothpaste (not gel) and toothbrush will work too and you don't get the fumes that bleach gives off.
The HG stuff is fab.
