Anyone got a recommendation for me please? My iron is reasonably new but nowhere near hot enough for thick cotton or linen.

Watching with interest - I've noticed this as well.

I think it's "elf & safety" they've limited the temperature to stop us burning ourselves or press anything decently

I might ask Tefal.

Every one I've had has been a load of crap too! Even the more expensive ones. I really struggle getting creases out of jeans especially!

I bought a steam generator one and it works much better than my old ordinary steam iron did.

I've had a steam generator and it was effective initially but it scaled up very quickly and seemed to pour scale and water over lots of clothes. They're also bloody big.

I might turn the steam function off mine and see if it runs hotter. Thanks for that.
