Quick q re soda crystals

I'm going to do an empty wash in my smelly washing machine and see from past posts that vinegar and soda crystals on a high temp is a common combination

Really stupid question - but what type of vinegar and how much? And can I get soda crystals in the supermarket? Would they be in the cleaning aisle, and how much should I chuck in?

Soda crystals are in the washing powder aisle, they're about 90p a bag. Vinegar should be clear, not brown. Distilled not malt, I think. And yes, it does work.

Thanks Harriet - do you know roughly how much of each I should use?
