Need to use timer for oven to heat up.

Just bought flat and am trying to get to grips with all the stuff. It's got an integrated oven but it seems you can't just turn the temp to 200 deg or whatever and wait till the light goes off to indicate it's reached that heat. You have to put the timer on for the oven to start heating - the light doesn't go on and the fan start working until you do this - is this normal? I think it's a Delonghi

it will be because a knob or other control is set to "timer". You need to set it to "manual". This is very common.

you are going to have to find the instruction manual, but if you have the make and model number (look for a plate on the inside of the oven doorframe) you can probably get it from the manufacturer's website.
