What colour rug?

I'm on maternity leave (started last week) and have become obsessive with cleaning and decorating. We need a new rug because the dog has ruined our last one. But I cant decide on the colour.

We have a black sofa with grey and black cushions. I have a few teal accessories, but am not sure whether to go with teal, duck egg blue or light green.

We cant get to light a shade because of the muddy dog, but I dont want to go to dark either.

I reckon duck egg or light green might be too light. teal is probably quite good for not showing every mark. But...get something washable, and some sort of pattern or texture.

Oh - and get turtle mats for your doorways so the muddy paws go on those before your rug!

I've looked at turtle mats before . Do they actually work ? We have a very large shepherd and the paint work , floors and rugs are just a mess .

They certainly help with the floor. We have a couple of big ones at the front door, and a small plus a large at the back door, so our dog has to take several steps on them (he's a dachshund)
