Removing the smell of damp from clothing.

I have been given a huge pile of clothes to sell on ebay for charity. Unfortunately they smell quite badly of damp, although there is no sign of damp or mildew on the clothing itself.

How do I get rid of the smell?

I have it sorted and ready to wash but wondered if I should put anything special in the wash with it to remove the smell?

I have now washed a load and hung it to dry but it doesn't smell as fresh as my own washing. Any suggestions what I could do?

Maybe wash with some Napisan in addition to detergent?

I haver found it takes a few wash and dries to get them smelling really fresh. And lots of airing.

Thank you both of you. I will wash and dry a few times and see. Where would I buy napisan and is it fine with all fabrics and colours?
