Hi,

I want to get DH a coffee maker for Christmas. He loves coffee made on the stove in a "proper" coffee pot and I wondered if he would be disappointed with the flavour if I bought him something like a Nespresso?

I know bugger all about coffee so am hoping a coffee connoisseur might be able to help?

By the way, my budget is quite small (

We've got a Philips Senseo machine - both DH and my Dad are big coffee drinkers and they love it as does BIL and he's french and used to good coffee! There are different models you can get but the basic one is about £50ish. Here's the one we have on Amazon.

There are lots of different bags you can buy but it's cheaper to buy in bulk and get them online. Avoid the flavoured ones though - cappuccino/caramel/mocha etc, they're horrible. Just stick to the different kinds of roasted coffees. Hope that helps.

I've had 2 nespresso machines and think they are brilliant as I am fussy with coffee don't like instant ect. The good thing is there are so many coffees to choose the ones you like best. I got mine off amazon and nespresso guarantee it for 3 yrs. when my milk frothier broke I phoned and it was collected then replaced in 4 days! Brilliant service. Highly recommend

I love my Nespresso machine. As flakemum said, great coffee and fab customer service. Check out John Lewis - they have nespresso with voucher for coffee so you will definitely get one within your budget
