Tell me about nice everyday cutlery

After some good-quality and fun cutlery. Had a whole lot of different coloured cutlery from Next but virtually the whole set has snapped in half.
Does not need to be fancy. We just need something that will last for more than six months

I would go for solid cutlery, not with plastic handles. They last a lot longer.

Avoid plastic handles they discolour and break go for a nice everyday set from somewhere like marks and spencer.

Homebase have a nice, modern style, all stainless steel, with rod-like handles. called Monaco, if you happen to like that sort of thing.

Has no matching servers, though.

Solid stainless one piece (no separate handle) will outlast anything else and are very widely sold at different prices and styles. Beware cheap ones that are stamped out of thin flat steel plate.

If you especially want a cafe or bistro-style, make sure the tang goes right through the entire handle and the handle scales are rivetted on (like a Sabatier knife).

At this time of year you will often see large sets on offer for family christmas dinner.

Viners used to be a top brand but the name was sold and they are all made in Korea now, I think

I saw some lovely Viners ones on offer. I may still get them as they were stainless steel and looked very good quality compared to the plastic ones. thanks for your suggestions

There are some very nice sets on offer in department stores at the moment - saw a good selection in House of Fraser last weekend. All solid stainless steel, quite sleek and modern, and very smart. Brands like Arthur Price.

I'd go for 2 sets of 4 of everything, to give me 8 of everything. And 4 servers.

I would get some of the 'Stellar' branded ones from amazon online. There are some fantastic reductions.

Make sure whatever you buy that it is 18/10 stainless steel. Cheaper cutlery will be 18/0 and will be no better than your old next stuff
