Carpet smelling after vacuuming

I've been noticing that after I vacuum my flat it smells a bit of like smelly feet? It's only started happening in the last month.

I vacuum about once a week. Sometimes more. We have a dyson which is about 12-18 months old.
Any ideas?

Watching with interest; recently became obsessed about smelly carpets after I went away for a few days and noticed a smell when I came home (now paranoid everyone smells this smell when they visit and think I never clean [hblush] ).

Hi, don't know if this will help, but could try washing the round filter thing, i did mine a couple of weeks ago, it's one of those jobs you should do every so often but in reality never do Grin

Wash the filter, wipe out the cylinder that collects the dust with hot soapy water and leave it to dry. Put essential oil (lemon is lovely) on a large cotton wool ball inside the cylinder.

You can put essential oil directly onto the filter when it's dry.

you haven't got a dog have you?

I prefer the vacs with a bag, that way you can change all the filters each time you change the bag (keep a spare set of filters, and wash them ready for next time)

there are various powders that you can shake onto the carpet and brush in before cleaning, I found out they are mostly bicarb with a bit of scent added.
