Cost to lay laminate? Need it really cheap!

I got some laminate flooring quite cheaply but now I need to find someone to lay it! Been quoted £10 a square metre which sounds really expensive to me but I don't really know what to expect. Have you had laminate fitted and do you mind saying what you paid? TIA.

i dont think its that difficult, can you borrow a saw off someone?

cheapsheep · 26/10/2011 20:37

I just can't though. I've got the kids round my feet all the time and no one to watch them really. Would much prefer to just get it done or it'll drag on forever. Just wondering really if I'm being a total skinflint. I can afford it (just), I just think it sounds expensive? Might be worth it though to get a floor lol.

i think that is about right. did you get a quote from the place you bought it?

crazynannawitchbitch · 26/10/2011 20:55

Any F&F who are handy who can do it cheap for you?

cheapsheep · 26/10/2011 21:20

Weell my brother kept promising but hasn't got around to it in 6 months. He'd have to come up specially. Otherwise no, not really. Guess I might just have to bite the bullet. Got it from Wickes in the sale - don't remember if they do fitting (didn't see a price) - but I thought my brother would do it!

But you reckon £10 a square metre is OK? Might be better to pay and get it done properly I guess. No one's had any nightmares with floor fitters have they?

try asking for cash discount as well, usually they will knock a wee bit off.

why not pay for a babysitter and do it yourself?
it's really easy if it is tongue and grove.

Well it's a thought I guess. But then I'm worried about all the fiddly bits. And I'd need a workbench wouldn't I? And I'm not sure I'd be too good with a saw. Probably end up splitting it or something and I've not much spare!

No, I think I'll probably play safe and go with the quote. Thanks. Smile
