Dull question I'm afraid, but is there a certain number of cycles you should run them through before using (like kettles and sterilisers after cleaning need three runs)?

afaik no you dont, just add salt, rinse aid and powder/tablets etc and off you go.

Always read your manual too, they tell you how to pack it properly.

I never ran mine through first either

we ran ours through once, and the instructions told us to fill something with water first too. husband did that for us.
