Best way to get boot polish out of a red polo shirt?

Dd1 has joined CCF - great! - but polished her boots in her red polo games shirt. Now the boot polish won't come out.

Any ideas, please?

Thanks in advance. Smile

Actually, dh - who supervised operations - said it was just ordinary shoe polish she used. In case that makes a difference?

Maybe I should ask the Forces crew?

You want a solvent that dissolves wax - I would start by scraping off any solid residue and trying with a small amount of upholstery cleaner (I used Vanish Power Foam to get oil out of a cashmere sweater with a great deal of success). If this is not successful, step it up to something a little stronger. Am small amount of white spirit dabbed on using a soft cloth will work if you're careful and persistent. When you're happy you've removed the stain sufficiently, wash as normal.

Thank you so much! I'll raid the cleaning cupboard. Dd is so fussy about her clothes, I can't bear to buy a new one, which would be
a} expensive
b} too itchy

Thanks
