Fitting a wooden floor

Hello, I wonder if anyone can give me a rough idea of the cost (per sq metre I would imagine) for a a fitter to lay our new wooden flooring. I know it may vary according to estimated time, quality of floor and sub floor etc. but, if anyone has had one laid, solid or good quality laminate, you might be able to help me decide between a fitter or DIY!
Thanks, Tia.

£30 per square metre. We are in the South East and had it glued which took alot more time than floating and the glue cost a fortune!

Our joiner fitted 40sq metres of ply then solid wood floor (pneumatic nail gun and PVA) which took him a couple of days for £900. Included in that price he also fitted some interior bifolding doors which took half a day.

Company who supplied wood quoted £40 per sq m for fitting Shock hence why we went with joiner (who has done a good job)

and don't go for waxing, go for varnish. We have a waxed floor and it is a complete nightmare. Worst decision of my life!

We had about 30 sq metres fitted by a local joiner. He charges £140 a day, took him just under two days iirc.

Thank you all so much! I expected around £25 per metre. We are having it put on top of old wooden boards (have served us well but too draughty with these winters we're having!) and are hoping not to have them glued.
LFP, the price you paid seems very fair.
If we don't go for a high-end wood laminate we will be having the floor stained and sealed the same as the boards in our hall.

Thanks again, Tia.

We've used a couple who've been that sort of price. The first we found through our builder who was doing some other work for us and the second was through a recommendation of a friend. If you're in or near Cambridge I'd be happy to pass on his number!

Thank you Daisy but I'm way up north! Will certainly hold out to find someone decent though and hopefully at a price such as those!

Thanks again, Tia.
