Brabantia Twin bin - worth it?

We need something to stop DS emptying the bins and I saw one of these at a friend's house and thought it looked great. But it's a lot more money than I can imagine spending on a bin.

I found one online for £100, 2x20L buckets, in brilliant steel. Would it be worth the money do you think? What do you think of them?

Also, do you think a touch top or a pedal bin would be better at keeping out a toddler? And is "brilliant steel" just going to look really grubby once it's been pawed?

We have a 40l brabantia bin in shiny steel. I think it was about £50 but was a wedding gift. We like it but it is a pain to keep clean and also once DD could walk she mastered opening the touch top very easily! Luckily it's tall so she can't reach in unless the bin is full ( though she has on occasion been caught eating bin retrieved food :-( ! )
Maybe a pedal bin would be better DD can't work our bathroom pedal one.

Peddle bins are far too much fun for small children IMO, cause and effect and all that (hit the peddle as hard as you can and see how big a noise you can make).

We have a massive Brabantia with a touch top, they do last very well, if the break they have a stupidly long guarantee.

Not sure I really see the point of a twin bin though, my friend has one, I would have though the more space you have to fling rubbish into the better.....unless that also means that your DS can pull bits back out easier too?

Good to know that pedal bins will be tempting, looks like a touch top facing the wall might be best.

I was thinking a twin bin so that we can have the recycling and rubbish in one, and not have two bins cluttering up the place. Also we have to empty them every day anyway so that DS can't get hold of much, so even if they're smaller we'll still be emptying them as often.

Well, we got a John Lewis touch top bin that looks just like the Brabantia bin.

The top bit needed replacing, so called customer services and they ordered the new part that came from Brabantia

I'm now feeling silly that I haven't even thought of turning the bin round!
