Sugar soap and wallpaper?

My house needs decorating but a bit skint. Decided to sugar soap the walls and paintwork and stretch it out another year. Can I sugar soap wallpaper? The wallpaper has had it but I don't want some soggy mess and an urgent decorating job on my hands.

Depends on the wall paper and the paintwork. Test a bit in a corner or behind the sofa where no one will see if it's a disaster.

You don't necessarily have to buy sugar soap though. Washing up liquid or cheap shampoo (designed for removing people grease) will do the job. Just dilute or not as you need - but always test first, neat washing up liquid is a strong colour...
