What can I put in my hoover to stop the smell?

I have changed the filters and the bag but we have dogs and I hoover everyday I I presume that it is just a dog smell from it. The smell out of it when I am using it is horrible, I am sure I read somewhere that there is something you can pop into the bag to stop that.

Shake n vac - only suitble on certain types of carpet.

Cotton wool soaked in Zoflora

Wash the hose in warm soapy water, allow to dry. Also wash out the attachments that you use to vacuum. You'll be equal parts amazed and disgusted at the colour of the water when you have finished soaking them all. Allow to dry before using again.

I second the essential oils but I put my a few drops on the filter of my cordless vacuum. I find citrus or bergamot really makes the room smell clean. My parents Dyson had that smell from their constantly shedding dog but the essential oils and regular cleaning of the filter and parts has helped hugely
