Brown rice - completely forgot!

Any tips on how to get rid of the acrid smell (largely only in the kitchen, thankfully)?

I also want to save the expensive saucepan - any tips on how to clean it without too much elbow grease ?

Cup of washing powder plus a little water. Leave to soak overnight. Then attack with steel wool. Shifts most things.

Washing powder in the pan of water and let it simmer for a while but dont forget it. No idea how to get rid of smell other than opening the windows wide :)

Caustic soda for the pan, if its not coated with anything eg teflon.

Thanks for the tips. Managed to save the saucepan but the house is still horribly whiffy
