What can I use to get hard water stains off the back of the loo?

You know where the water flushes down into the pan - well I appear to have an area of build up leading from there down into the water in the bowl. What can I use to get rid of it? I live in a very hard water area.

TIA.

LimeLite spray - it's quite thick so it clings long enough to do its job!

Thank you, will add it to my shopping list!

Im sure I have seen on how clean is your house or a show like it that Coke left over night combats it - Anyone tried it?

Greensleeves · 26/09/2011 19:30

Oooh, a good friend of mine (also a MNer) told me her success story on this a while ago

she put a bottle of full fat Coke down there, left it overnight, I think, and then chipped all the horrible stuff away with a kitchen knife

I haven't tried it yet Blush

Yes Coke's good but only for "below the waterline and round the bend" stains Grin

If you are meaning the brown stains if you know what i mean, a good scrubbing with a bristly brush usually cleans them right off. Even during d&v.

Harpic 100% limescale remover

Original or Fresh

Did mine the other day.

Can't use coke as it won't stick to the vertical wall, even if it were true! Not brown stains ... have 2 DC and know how to tackle those! Mean the slightly nicotine'y coloured stains that can leave a mark in hard water areas.

Pumice stone will do it, it's supposed to not scratch the porcelain, but abrasive enough to remove the limescale iykwim

ChameleonCircuit · 27/09/2011 23:27

Sainsburys toilet cleaner is the bees knees, and doesn't cost much either. I have never had such limescale-free toilets!

BoffinMum · 30/09/2011 22:26

Cif, a scourer and elbow grease?

jenni75 · 02/10/2011 15:08

Will second Harpic 100 % limescale remover

Honeydragon · 02/10/2011 15:13

Will third Harpic 100%, I'm in a hard water area and its the only thing I've found that works.
